Module 07 · Built to Convert From Day One
The $0/month CRO stack: what conversion rate optimization actually means for a vendor store
Conversion rate is the number that decides whether everything else matters
You can have great photos, a product people genuinely want, a strong About page, and steady traffic, and still not make sales if your store has friction that stops people from buying. Conversion rate optimization is the practice of finding that friction and removing it.
For a new vendor store, the average ecommerce conversion rate sits around 1 to 2%. The arts and crafts category specifically averages 5.2%. That's the highest of any ecommerce category. For every 100 visitors, 5 or 6 of them should be completing a purchase. If yours is well below that and you have decent traffic, there's usually a specific thing causing the drop-off.
This module installs the six things that move the number for handmade stores. All free or already included with Shopify. All installed during setup, before you've launched, instead of bolted on after.
